Job Description:

Idaho Power Company is seeking a Photographer/Videographer who will plan and produce videos, shoot photographs and handle other multimedia communications needs for internal and external audiences. The selected candidate will be working under general supervision and with Corporate Communication staff, technical staff and internal clients. He or she will coordinate and collaborate as needed to create the highest quality visuals to express the Idaho Power brand, meeting all deadlines.

The selected candidate will:

  • Independently brainstorm concepts, locations, and visual direction.

  • Deliver, distribute, and post digital images as required, preparing them for publication through the latest technologies available

  • Archive, maintain, and expand the images in our database to make them easily retrievable and searchable by category, key word search, etc.

  • Assist in managing all equipment, technology, and studio space needs for the department

  • Assist in planning, execution and evaluation of corporate events

  • Assist in planning and recording of focus group testing

  • Assist with evaluating and configuration of auditorium and boardroom AV configurations

  • Provide input to IT on Skype for Business

  • Champion brand standards and ensure consistent application on all assigned projects

  • Balances the integration of business strategy and objectives to ensure compelling, effective and consistent communication materials.


Knowledge of:

  • Photography and video production methods, costs and equipment

  • Sound theory

  • Camera capabilities and limitations

  • Lighting

  • Color, video design and motion graphics

  • File formats and network distribution requirements

  • Communication principles and project management.


  • Electronic News Gathering, portable configurations of video cameras and professional digital single lens reflex cameras.

Skills in:

  • Demonstrated use of Macintosh operating system, video editing applications, digital and video cameras, lighting equipment, microphones and other production equipment.

  • Script writing

  • Digital imaging and manipulation

  • Demonstrated skills in project teamwork.

Ability to:

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff

  • Assists with determining most cost-effective, communicative and timely multimedia projects

  • Employ analytical expertise, artistic talent and technical skill to combine photos, video, motion graphics and typography for cohesive, dynamic, visual communications

  • Perform concentrated detail work with a high degree of accuracy

  • Provide video production services under the pressure of multiple conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions and changes in priority

  • Maintain confidentiality and security of company information and images.



  • Bachelor’s degree in photography, videography or other related field OR equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.


  • Bachelor’s degree in photography, videography or other related field.


  • At least 2 years of demonstrated photography or videography experience with a business or as a freelance agent.


  • Three to five years professional photography or videography experience with a business, agency or as a freelance agent.


The Audio-Visual Program Coordinator works with the Creative Design team to produce multimedia communications including video, audio, and photography. 90% of a typical workday includes work with the office at the CHQ. Field work of up to 4 X weekly includes ambulation on avg. up to 1 mile while carrying necessary equipment such as a 10 lb video camera bag, 10 lb. tripod kit, and a 20 lb lighting kit. Twice yearly the AV Coordinator ambulates up to 6 miles on trails/hills. Ascent/descent of to 10 flights of stairs (while carrying up to 30-40 lbs) is required to occasionally photograph power plants. A 50 lb. dolly/cart is used to carry gear (requiring a 5 lb. push/pull force). Good manual dexterity and upper extremity range of motion is required for adjusting C-arms, lighting on an overhead grid, and changing background paper in the studio.
