Job Description:

This position will have a flexible start date in June but is intended to be a summer internship. This is an excellent opportunity to join a professional, fast-paced, customer-focused human resources team as a student intern! The successful candidate will gain additional experience and expertise in the areas of talent acquisition, recruiting best practices, onboarding, employment law, and OFCCP compliance. As part of the recruiting team at Idaho Power Company, the HR Intern will provide front line support to Idaho Power employees and candidates – in person, via phone, and in written correspondence. Additional duties include:

  • Preparing applicant and interview materials for job selection teams

  • Interview scheduling and coordination

  • Career fair scheduling and attendance

  • Completing employment verifications

  • Data collection, entry, validation and analysis of moderate complexity

  • Providing administrative support as needed

  • Completing new hire paperwork and transfer documents

  • Coordinating pre-employment processes (criminal background checks, drug screens, reference checks, etc.)

  • Assisting other HR Functions (Benefits, Payroll, Performance Improvement)

This position requires exceptional customer service skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, attention to detail, strong self-motivation, and the ability to maintain confidential information.

  • Microsoft software, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Data-entry

  • Organization

  • Teamwork/collaboration

  • Customer service

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including editing and proofreading.


  • Adobe

  • Database queries and reporting

  • Behavioral interviewing techniques.

  • Communicate effectively – in person, over the phone and via e-mail

  • Deal with multiple distractions

  • Prioritize tasks and projects

  • Handle stress

  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism and use good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information and materials.



  • High school diploma or GED and;

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related Business degree with a Human Resource Minor at junior or senior status or;

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related Business degree with a Human Resource emphasis.


Prefer :

  • Demonstrated experience providing administrative and customer service support, quality orientation, and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position.


This is a part-time position with an anticipated schedule of 20 hours per week. There may be times that this position will work more than 20 hours per week. Hours worked must occur Monday through Friday 8:00am–5:00pm. Schedule will be mutually determined at time of offer.
