Responsibilities

The Coding Quality Specialist performs internal quality assessment reviews on physician (professional) coding to ensure compliance with national coding guidelines and St. Luke’s policies for complete, accurate and consistent coding which result in appropriate reimbursement and data integrity. This position works to improve accuracy, integrity and quality of patient data, to ensure minimal variation in coding practices and improve the quality of physician documentation within the body of the medical record to support code assignments. The Specialist provides physician & coder specific education based on the quality monitoring review findings and trends.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include:

  • Associates (HIM) or 2 years of experience in lieu of degree

  • 5 years’ experience

  • Certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC
