Role Summary:

The Associate Product Service Engineer provides direction and assistance to work group in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role, you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues and resolve through immediate action or mid-term planning.

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Associate Product Service Engineer, you will:

  • Actively participate in EHS and develop a thorough understanding of GE’s EHS Policies and Procedures. Conduct work activities in a compliant manner adhering to the highest level of personal safety

  • Manage the customer expectation at the site and lead to execute troubleshooting, maintenance, equipment replacements, startups and commissioning in an efficient way

  • Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services to troublesome equipment

  • Maintain knowledge of the report system to the extent required for timely and accurate input of field information necessary

  • Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards

  • Assist in the development of job cost estimates and attend critical customer meetings

  • Interpret GE drawings and O & M manual that apply to the electrical equipment (i.e. ATSs, Switchgears and Switchboard, and related products)

  • Send feedback to engineering team and manufacturing team for factory / Eng’g defects

  • Troubleshoot PLC / HMI programs based on the project requirements and make them ready for customer commissioning

  • Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair and maintenance at customer's sites

  • Perform administrative functions; writing technical reports, preparing job status reports, time sheet and expense sheets among other activities

  • Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outages


  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent software degree

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Field Services role

  • Minimum of 1 year of knowledge of PLC programming

  • Minimum of 1 year of knowledge of HMI and SCADA programming


  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 85% of the time as required

  • Possess a valid driver’s license

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with electrical power systems, preferably in switchgear / switchboard control and protection relaying circuit design

  • Experience paralleling generators utilizing advanced generator controllers, including Woodward generator control devices

  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision, strong customer service mindset

  • Strong creative and analytical skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills / Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Supportive of work team concept and boundary-less organization

  • Commitment to customer satisfaction

  • Computer literate including Microsoft Outlook / Excel / Word
